CIO-at-Large

My work combines elements from agile software development with lean business startup techniques and game theory to devise elegant solutions to complex problems. My focus is in supply chains, business intelligence and new business ventures. I have advised and mentored development teams at Microsoft Xbox, Starbucks Coffee Company, U.S. Navy Medical Logistics Command and numerous smaller companies.

As co-founder of supply chain modeling and simulation company SCM Globe, I put my money where my mouth is to deliver a powerful and easy to use application that accurately models any supply chain anywhere in the world. SCM Globe is used by colleges and executive education seminars around the world to engage students and teach concepts of logistics and supply chain management. It is used by companies and consultants to simulate operations of real company supply chains and explore options for improvement and for building new supply chains.

I spent six years as CIO of a national cooperative of distribution companies developing a suite of supply chain and e-business applications that transformed the company’s operations and revenue model. For this work I won the CIO 100 Award twice for boldness and resourcefulness and I won the InformationWeek 500 Award for innovation. In 2006 I won the Premier 100 Award for career achievement.

Business strategy, effective supply chain management and the agile real-time enterprise. I live this stuff. My books are a blend of theory and  practice based on personal experience that show you how to excel.
